Professional Development, Round 2

You may start applying for the second round of the CUPEU Professional Development Fund. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, September 6 at 5 p.m. (this is firm). For greater success in your application, review the application process, instructions and required documents.

We encourage eligible members to take this opportunity to apply. This is your chance to use up to $4,757.10 to develop your professional skills. Here's a quick list of what members have been approved for:
  • conferences / workshops / courses
  • books / magazine subscriptions / software
  • membership / association dues
In light of COVID-19, note that:
  • the Professional Development Committee will adhere to the university's updated position on work-related travel for staff. Additionally, note that costs related to COVID-testing are not covered by the Professional Development fund.

  • the fund does not cover equipment-related expenses, per article 10.12.b. If you are in need of office equipment to optimize your work-from-home situation, this is a matter to discuss your supervisor.
If you can't apply this time, consider these periods:

CUPEU Shuffle contribution

CUPEU is happy to announce that it will contribute $20 to this year's Shuffle campaign for every CUPEUer participating in the event.

Summer social event photos

Thank you to everyone who made last Wednesday's event! The weather gods smiled upon and gifted us with a wonderful sunny day to enjoy catching up with snazzily dressed CUPEU colleagues at Esplanade Place Ville-Marie's spacious terrace.

Special thanks goes out to Sheila Ettinger (VP Special Projects), for making it happen and Sigmund Lam (VP Negotiations) and Douglas Chananda (VP Special Projects) for documenting the joyous occasion!

Email delivery issues

We've been told that some members aren't receiving the newsletters lately. If you happen to come across a CUPEU colleague in that situation, kindly let them know to check their spam/junk/Other folder.

Additionally, once they see it, they can right click on the email and manually set it so that CUPEU emails get sent to the regular / Focused inbox like so (please note: this is more of a stopgap measure):

While we've been in contact with IITS on the matter before, it seems that it's not been fully resolved and there's not much else we can do on our end. We'd appreciate your help in spreading the word to CUPEU colleagues and emailing IITS at help@concordia.ca to let them know that CUPEU newsletters are landing in your Junk/Spam folder (it'll also help them to know the dates and subject lines).
