29 Oct I am on sick leave. What should I do to keep problems to a minimum?
Always get your benefit papers in on time, whether you report weekly, monthly or some other way. The Benefits unit of the Human Resources Department will tell you the duration of your sick leave and when your sick leave is about to end.
Make sure that your doctor uses definite terms such as “cannot”, “will not” or “can”, etc., rather than such terms as “may” or “could.” This will keep interpretation problems to a minimum.
Make sure your doctor gives reasons in specific terms if you are going to be delayed in returning to work or if complications arise during treatment.
Make sure that your supervisor is aware of any activities you plan that could be questioned later by the Human Resources Department.
