Collective Agreement extension offer
As you may know, CUPEU’s current contract ends on May 31, 2021. Recently, the University approached the negotiations committee with an offer to extend the current terms of the Collective Agreement to May 31, 2023.
- Members will benefit from a 2.6% salary increase on June 1, 2021 and a 2.4% increase on June 1, 2022. Here's what that looks like for the average CUPEU annual salary (grade 12, level 10):
- 2020: $86,940.11
- June 1, 2021: $89,200.55
- June 1, 2022: $91,341.37
- Certain issues can be resolved with a letter of agreement between the Union and the University.
- Negotiations for the next contract will begin in Spring 2023.
Next steps: The general meeting
In light of this development, a online general meeting will take place where the negotiations committee will present more details and answer questions so you, the membership, can determine whether to accept the university's offer.

CUPEU General Meeting: Contract Extension
Thursday, February 18, 2021
5:15 – 6:15 p.m. (the presentation will be brief, so there will be time for questions)
The voting process
To vote on the university's proposed offer, you must confirm your attendance to the general meeting (deadline: tomorrow, February 5 at 5 p.m.). We need to verify your eligibility to vote ahead of the event – you will be contacted if you are not a member in good standing to resolve the matter. Once it is confirmed that you are a member in good standing, you will receive an email with a link to the online meeting.
At the meeting, around the time the motion is made to put the university's offer to vote, an email notification from CUPEU (using the address "vote@simplyvoting.com") with directions on how to cast your vote will be sent to your Concordia email address. Only members confirmed in good standing who RSVP'd and are in attendance will receive this information.
Due to university firewall limits, our ability to send mass email notifications is restricted. You, more than likely, will receive your ballot a few minutes or hours after the meeting. We expect this. We will close access to voting at 12 p.m. the following day (February 19, 2021) to accommodate any possible delays. Once results are tallied, the final outcome will be sent out in a newsletter.
If you have questions, feel free to contact us. See you online at the meeting.
