In Retrospect: BBQ

First of all, please join me in a round of virtual applause for Patrick Wong Kee Song, the legendary organizer of some of CUPEU's greatest events! The BBQ at the Kampai Garden Restaurant proved to be a well organized, as usual, and a much appreciated event by all, so once again, Thank You Patrick!

Strike Information

While we remain dedicated to negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement that will meet CUPEU members’ needs, we are full steam ahead to begin striking if Concordia fails to offer a satisfying proposal.

Here is a breakdown of the upcoming days :

PICKETING GATHERING POINTS :
SGW : Corner of Maisonneuve and Bishop (Hall Building)
Loyola : 7141 Sherbrooke St. (Main entrance in front of AD Building)

TUESDAY SEPT 3rd
When : 9AM-3PM
Where : Both campuses.
What : Our first picketing day!

WEDNESDAY SEPT 4th
When : 9AM-3PM
Where : Both campuses.
What : Our second picketing day!

THURSDAY SEPT 5th
When : 9AM-3PM
Where : Both campuses to start the day, with an inter-union gathering at SGW!
What : There will be an inter-union gathering taking place at lunchtime at SGW. Members from Loyola will have access to a shuttle to take them to and from Loyola campus. No picketing will take place at Loyola during the inter-union gathering.

FRIDAY SEPT 6th
When : 9AM-3PM
Where : Both campuses to start the day, with a group of SGW members visiting Loyola
What : A shuttle will take a select group of SGW members to support Loyola members at Loyola campus. Picketing will still take place at SGW during the Loyola gathering.

MONDAY SEPT 9th
When : 9AM-12:30PM
Where : Centre Mont-Royal (2200 Mansfield Street)
What : The mandatory weekly information session

No picketing will take place on the day of the mandatory weekly information session. Scheduling is not flexible for this day, all members are expected at Centre Mont-Royal for the duration of the information session. The information session is used to share essential information on negotiation and mobilization. We will receive guest speakers as well. Sign-up will begin at 9:00AM.

PICKETING REQUIREMENTS
Regular picketing days : 4 full hours per day
Weekly information session : Entirety of the information session and attached union activities (similar length to picketing days)
Participation needs to be active!
Members who do not meet the picketing requirements will not be eligible for CSN and CUPEU’s strike funds.

WHEN DOES THE STRIKE ACTUALLY START, LEGALLY SPEAKING? HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The strike will be ongoing 24 hours a day and 7 days a week as of midnight on Tuesday September 3rd. Members cannot legally work at any time for the duration of the strike and only the union can announce the end of the strike.

LUNCH
Lunch will be provided, including vegetarian options. Other more specific dietary requirements cannot be accommodated by the union group meals.

WEATHER
Rain, cold or bad weather does not suspend the strike and picket lines. In case of extreme weather events, the union executive committee will contact its membership.

WHAT TO BRING ON THE PICKET LINE?
-Foldable camping chair if needed
-Bottle of water
-Coffee mug
-Umbrella or raincoat
-Comfortable shoes
-A hoodie or sweatshirt for colder weather
-Sunscreen
