CUPEU Strike 2024

Given that the University has refused to engage in negotiations on our reasonable demands, CUPEU adopted a strike mandate in May of this year. Our negotiation team attempted to move the needle on this issue by providing compelling arguments backed up by real data, but the University has categorically refused to even discuss the topic.
|
Many of us are proud of the work we do and going on strike is absolutely a last resort. The inevitable discomfort we, as a union, have decided to tolerate for our right to a fair negotiation process is something we are hoping can still be avoided. Alas, as recently as this week, the University is still refusing to negotiate fair hybrid work.
|
The negotiation and mobilization committees have reluctantly come to the conclusion that without real progress, we are left with no other option than going on strike as early as September 3rd, 2024.
|
Unless we can achieve a breakthrough in negotiations before that date, a strike is inevitable. We’ve prepared a Strike Q&A for members.
